CONCEPT
At the Brooklyn Public Library's Sunset Park branch, I am an active member of a volunteer group called Friends. Within this group, I am participating in a project to create tote bags for fundraising purposes.
The library is a place utilized by people from various walks of life, and this diversity is reflected in the design. The design incorporates people of different races and ages, each engaging in activities that represent the services offered by the library. With the building renovation of the Sunset Park branch completed a year ago, the project aims to challenge preconceived notions. For instance, activities traditionally associated with women, such as cooking and sewing, are depicted being done by men, emphasizing that these activities are for everyone.
To capture the essence of Sunset Park, the design includes a sun-shaped clock that indicates sunset time, photos showcasing views from Sunset Park, and lighting fixtures inspired by those used in the newly renovated library.
